Moscow Region Philharmonic presents musical phantasy “The Four Seasons”. Identically titled works by A. Vivaldi and P. Tchaikovsky will be performed by Chamber orchestra “Instrumental Capella”Dmitry Borodin (violin), and Oleg Kalagurov (piano). The well-known classics will be delivered in a new interpretation, accompanied by pantomime and video art, under the baton of Vyacheslav Valeyev.

We see each season hued with a mood and colors of its own. The nature’s awakening in spring, its bloom in summer, autumn’s gloom, and winter’s fairy-tale vibe have been diversely interpreted in music. The composers have created a peculiar literary program accurately followed by music: Tchaikovsky provided names for the piano pieces, whereas Vivaldi introduced each violin concerto with a sonnet.

In the musical phantasy directed by Olesya Nevmerzhitskaya the two series are fused, featuring a boy protagonist experiencing fascinating life events related to the change of seasons.

The musical phantasy premiered on 10 September 2016 at Tchaikovsky State Museum in Klin town.

On 27 January 2017 at 2 pm the phantasy will be presented at the Grand Hall of Oktyabr community centre in Dubna town as part of Children’s Region Philharmonic project masterminded by composer Maxim Dunayevsky. The performance will feature young musicians: student of a local children’s music school (professor Kuznetsova’s class), award winner of regional graduate contest (Dubna, 2016) Anna Inozemtseva and student of the local boys’ choral school (professor Ivanova’s class), award winner of regional graduate contest (Dubna, 2016) Arthur Fedoruk.

You might think guslars have been long forgotten since the times of Ancient Russia. However, in the 21st century musicians still play this ancient instrument. We invite the most courageous listeners to take a two-hour journey in the music time machine to Ancient Novgorod.

The performance is a mixture of vivid choreography, colorful folk costumes, live Russian language, original renditions of well-known tunes, and the story of a Novgorod gusli musician who travelled to the Underwater Kingdom. The orchestra, which is made up of balalaikas, domras, zhaleikas, horns, various percussions, and Sadko’s celebrated gusli, provides an extraordinary accompaniment.

The production gets children involved, giving them a try at dancing and playing old folk instruments.

State ensemble of music and dance “Sadko”
Artistic director – Darya Volynskaya
Conductor – award winner of international competitions Vyacheslav Valeyev
Ballet master – Lyudmila Alyanchikova

MRP presents “Children’s Region Philharmonic”, a project involving prominent musicians and multi-genre artists giving performances throughout the year in children’s art schools across Moscow region.

The project was launched on 10 September at Tchaikovsky Museum in Klin with “The Seasons”. Works of the same name by Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky performed by Chamber orchestra Instrumental Capella, Dmitry Borodin (violin) and Oleg Kalagurov (piano) were played in a new, original version accompanied by pantomime and video art, conducted by Sergey Inkov and directed by Olesya Nevmerzhitskaya.

On 29 October Kalinin community centre (Korolyov town) hosted “Music Station”, an interactive program featuring “Instrumental Capella”, artist Svetlana Stepchenko, actor Yuri Sokirkin, ballet dancer Elizaveta Taranda, circus artist Alyona Slivka, soloists of Popov Choral Arts Academy, Capriccio quartet, and students of local music schools.

On 19 November Rossiya community centre (Serpukhov town) hosted the premiere of “Epic Rus”, a performance with sand animation containing ‘online’ scenes of battles, victories, weddings, and everyday life of Russian people created by artist Elena Vedernikova. The scenes unfolded to the music of great Russian composers Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Glazunov, Lyadov, Ippolitov-Ivanov, and others performed by “Guslars of Russia”.

On 10 December MRP presented Sergey Prokofiev’s symphony fairy-tale “Peter and the Wolf” and its sequel “Peter and the Wolf – 2” by Peter Pospelov in Balashikha community centre. The performance was delivered by the Orchestra of Russian Emergency Ministry under the baton of Sergey Inkov, featuring narrator Eugene Knyazev.

The project is spearheaded by People’s Artist of Russia, MRP’s artistic leader Maxim Dunayevsky.

“Children’s Region Philharmonic” is a follow-up to “The Nutcracker”, MRP’s 2014-2015 project engaging gifted students of music schools and studios across Moscow region (Fryazino, Serpukhov, Pavlovsky Posad, Korolyov, Krasnogorsk, Egoryevsk, Krasnoarmeysk, Chernogolovka) and award winners of annual TV contest for young musicians “The Nutcracker”.

Moscow Region Philharmonic supported by Moscow Government and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour Foundation presented the premiere of multimedia folk performance "Trinity. History Alive".

From 15 June to 28 August one of Moscow's major venues, the Church Council Hall at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour hosted a run of performances unparalleled in this country.

"Trinity. History Alive" is an incredible multimedia journey into the depths of Russia's history and culture. The protagonists took the audience on an hour-and-a-half trip to Russian customs and traditions. The fascinating story was backed up by legendary canvases from the Tretyakov State Gallery.

Music by celebrated Russian composers provided accompaniment for the action: Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Koraskov, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Schnittke, and others. The audience was introduced to classical works in unusual arrangements performed by a folk orchestra.

The production featured some of the most highly acclaimed Russia's ensembles: MRP's ensemble Russkiye Uzory, Moscow ensemble "Russkiye Sezony", and Sudakov Moscow State Capella.

The production featured a one-of-a-kind instrument, the belfry of "Russian Bells" ensemble set up onstage to create the right kind of vibe. Traditionally shaped bells went marvelously along with ancient Russian flat bells that were used in the works as bass instruments.

  • Trinity. History Alive is the first Russia's international folk performance
