Pavel Baransky

Pavel Baransky is an opera singer (baritone), winner of Grand Prix at International contest for opera singers in Beeskow (Germany, 2000), shortlisted in BBC contest in Cardiff (Wales, 2000), shortlisted in Placido Domingo’s “Operalia” contest (2003), MRP’s soloist.

In 2003 graduated from Kiev Conservatory (National Music Academy of Ukraine named after Tchaikovsky), where he had studied under professor Nikolay Kondratyuk. Received training at Zurich Opera Theatre (2004-2005). 

In 2004 made his debut with Hamburg State Opera as Eugene Onegin, later took on leading parts: Yeletsky (Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades), Belcore (Donizzetti’s L'elisir d'amore), Ford (Verdi’s Falstaff), Mister Flint (Britten’s Billy Budd), Germont (Verdi’s La Traviata), and more.

Performed as guest singer: in the USA (Сarnegie Hall) sung Manfredo from Montemezzi’s L'amore dei tre re; in the Netherlands – Yeletsky from Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades.

Appeared in Tchaikovsky’s Mazepa, Rachmaninoff’s Aleko, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchei the Deathless (Prince).  

Baransky’s solo recitals were held in the Congress Hall of UNESCO headquarters (France, Paris 2010) as part of Russia’s Year in France, in Lille (France), and across Russia (Moscow, Tver, Vladimir, Ekaterinburg, Smolensk, etc).

Partook in the festivals “Opera Empire” (project of Moscow Government), Oxford festival (Ireland, role of Tomáš in Smetana’s Hubička), “La Folle Journée” in Nantes (France), in Tokyo (Japan). 

Recorded four CDs at the Grand Hall of Conservatory, two of them for VISTA VERA company.

Collaborated with renowned conductors: Vladimir Jurowski, Vasily Petrenko, Vasily Sinaisky, Louis Bakalov, Carlo Rizzi, Edo de Waart, Nello Santi, Eve Queler, Simone Young, Nikolay Alekseyev, Adrian Lucas, Nikolas Kok, Dmitry Liss, and others.
