“Guslars of Russia” celebrating Day of Slavic Writing and Culture

As part of celebrating the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture ensemble of Moscow Region Philharmonic State orchestra "Guslars of Russia" gave a concert on 24 May 2015 in Odintsovo town in the Moscow region.

The orchestra performed adaptations of folk tunes, well-known songs – "The Long Road", "Oh My Field", "Native Land", and others. The ensemble also included into its program the works written specifically for the folk cast. Music of Vera Gorodovskaya "Tale about Ancient Times", "Quiet, Quiet" enriched the concert.

Works by Mikhail Glinka, Anatoly Lyadov, Sergey Rakhmaninoff were performed in original arrangements done for "Guslars of Russia" by Yuri Pushkaryov. Unusual timbre approach, where the sounding of gusli plays a major role, presented the works of notable composers from a new musical perspective.
