70th anniversary of distinguished composer

People' Artist of Russia, Honored Art Worker of Russian Federation Maxim Isaacovich Dunayevsky celebrated his 70th anniversary. On 4 June 2015 Moscow Region Philharmonic presented a gala concert to mark the composer's anniversary at the Concert hall named after Tchaikovsky.

The program opened with cantata "Rejoice at the Sun" for a big mixed choir, a symphony orchestra and three soloists to the church verse of anonymous poets of XVIII and XIX centuries. The work was performed by one of the best music ensembles of Russia – State Academic Choral Capella of Russia named after Yurlov. Artistic director – Honored Art Worker of Russia Gennady Dmitryak. The cantata was a luminous, radiant opening for the anniversary celebration.

Pop celebrities arrived to greet the maestro: People's Artist of RSFSR Mikhail Boyarsky, People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Kharatyan, People's Artist of Russia Larisa DolinaAngelina Sergeyeva. They performed well-known songs enthusiastically welcomed by the audience.

The program highlighted the musical as a genre. Extracts from the most notable musicals of Maxim Dunayevsky were performed: "The Scarlet Sails" (artists of "Russian musical" company), "The Flying Ship" (soloists and orchestra of "Theatrium at Serpukhovka" directed by T. Durova), "Mata Hari: love and espionage" (celebrity duet of Larisa Dolina and Dmitry Kharatyan).

A humorous piece was also included, done by soloist Valentin Gutov and Valery Razumovsky.

The festive evening featured instrumental music of Maxim Dunayevsky. Symphony poem "Lament and Death of Julia" for saxophone and orchestra was performed with virtuosity by People's Artist of Russia Igor Butman.

A unique ensemble provided accompaniment for the evening, Russian State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography that Maxim Dunayevsky had collaborated with to write music for numerous films. Artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra – People's Artist of Russia Sergey Skripka.
