“Music of the Word” played at Yekaterininsky park

Last weekend Yekaterininsky park was enwrapped in Russian poetry and music: on 28 June Moscow Region Philharmonic held literary and music festival "Music of the Word". A seamless combination of folk tunes, old romances, classical symphonies, soundtracks from films, poetry and prose was presented on the same stage. The aim of the project is to make broad audiences aware of a close relationship between Russian literature and music.

State orchestra "Guslars of Russia" showcased folk music culture. "The Gusli Beat Up By the Gate", "Hawkers", "Ring, Ring Oh Golden Russia" – these and many other compositions created a specific vibe of the Russian ancient times.

From Ancient Russia – to the art of 19th - 20th centuries:

Golden Age – romances by M. Glinka, poetry by A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov;
Silver Age – poetry by M. Tsvetaeva, A. Akhmatova, I. Severyanin, S. Yesenin;
Soviet era – soundtracks from films, wartime songs, poems by I. Brodsky, V. Vysotsky, Y. Levitanovsky, D. Samoylov.

The works were performed by: People's Artist of Russia Alexander Dik, singer and actress Tatyana Mikhina, actresses Anastasiya Busygina, Olga Seyger, Maria Guryeva, students of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (B. Morosov's course), Chamber orchestra "Instrumental Capella" .

Actor Timur Yeremeyev opened up the performances with his acute commentary.

The idea of a program uniting various eras, styles, and trends received a warm welcome from the audience. Despite the weather the festival attracted a lot of guests who appreciated the program.
