The first section of the recital featured the choir of boys from Moscow Choral College performing sacred and secular works of Russian composers (conducted by Alexei Petrov), including excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom and excerpts from Sviridov's series Pushkin's Wreath. MRP's Instrumental Capella also participated at the event, performing Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with the choir. Artistic director of the orchestra, chief choirmaster of Mariinsky, Honored Arts Officer of Russia Mr. Andrew Petrenko was conducting.
