Year of Russian cinema opened in Zvenigorod

On Friday 22 January the Year of Russian cinema was opened at the community centre of Zvenigorod. A memorial sign for celebrated Soviet actress Lyubov Orlova was set up where her monument will be built in August 2016. The ceremony was attended by Orlova's grand-niece, journalist and dramaturgist Nonna Golikova.

After the festive part a recital was presented featuring MRP's Instrumental Capella (conductor – Vyacheslav Valeyev). The ensemble performed a mix of well-known tunes from Soviet and Russian cinema. Excerpts from letters between Grigory Alexandrov and Lyubov Orlova were presented to the accompaniment of the orchestra's concertmaster Semyon Lisov (violin).

The lobby of the community centre was hosting an exhibition featuring Soviet actors who are related to the Moscow region – L. Orlova, S. Stolyarov, V. Maretskaya, V. Tikhonov.

The event was attended by Deputy First Culture Minister of Moscow region Andrey Murashov and prominent figures of Russian cinema, including MRP's artistic director Maxim Dunayevsky, People's Artist of Russia Valentin Gaft, Honored Artist of Russia Svetlana Svetlichnaya, and director Yegor Konchalovsky.
