“Ode to Great Victory” in Dmitrov

“Ode to Great Victory” in Dmitrov

To mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War Moscow Region Philharmonic with the support of Ministry of Culture of Moscow region prepared one-of-a-kind project "Ode to Great Victory". On 7 May 2015 a festive concert was given as part of the project in Dmitrov, the town of military glory.

The first deputy head of administration of Dmitrov municipal district of Moscow region Dolgova Olga wished veterans a happy holiday and thanked the artists of Moscow Region Philharmonic.

The musical part of the program was woven from miscellaneous works: wartime songs, symphony and choral compositions. "Moscow Suburb Nights", "A Little Blue Scarf", "Oh the Front-line Road" were performed at the concert along with Beethoven's Symphony no. 7, Mozart's "Requiem", and Chamber symphony by D. Shostakovich.

Modern multimedia aids were applied to complement the narrative and musical parts. The audience saw extracts from films about war, videos about artists in the war. The pivotal point was the history of Dmitrov presented through video reports. At Peremilovskaya Vysota, one and a half kilometers away from the town, there is a monument "To the Heroes of the Battle near Moscow". In 1941 there was bloodshed in the area, and the first breakthrough in the war occurred. Robert Rozhdestvensky wrote a poem as a tribute to the battle:

Remember: here, from that point,
Soaked in smoke, and blood, and grief,
Back in the forty-first was opened
Way to the winning forty-fifth.
