“Ode to Great Victory” in Mozhaisk

“Ode to Great Victory” in Mozhaisk

The project of Moscow Region Philharmonic titled "Ode to Great Victory" marking the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, has come to an end. The project was created with the support of Ministry of Culture of Moscow region. Previous concerts had been given in Naro-Fominsk, Volokalamsk, and Dmitrov. The closing performance took place on 8 May 2015 in Mozhaisk, the town of military glory.

The head of Mozhaisk municipal district Cherny Alexander was present at the concert. On the eve of the holiday he expressed greetings to the veterans and gratitude to Moscow Region Philharmonic for organizing the one-of-a-kind project celebrating the 70th anniversary of Victory.

The musical and poetic project "Ode to Great Victory" combined dancing, music, and literary pieces. Wartime imagery was followed by wartime songs, classical symphony works – by jolly dances. The program featured "Moscow Suburb Nights", "A Little Blue Scarf", "On the Hills of Manchuria", "The Day of Victory", Allegretto from Beethoven's Symphony no. 7, Mozart's "Requiem", Chamber symphony by D. Shostakovich and many other works.

The line "Joy with tears on the eyes" from the legendary song by David Tukhmanov conveys the feel of the concert clearly. "Ode" reminds of those who gave their life to Victory, and it was performed primarily for war veterans. The audience was greeting the veterans standing. The concert was a memorable gift to all the residents of Mozhaisk: in video reports spectators saw the history of the town of military glory, exclusive stories and interviews.
