New leader of Chamber orchestra “Instrumental Capella”

On 20 August 2015 Honored Art Worker of Russia Andrey Petrenko was assigned artistic director of Chamber orchestra "Instrumental Capella".

Chief choirmaster of Mariinsky Theatre, teacher at St. Petersburg Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Andrey Petrenko is one of the most sought-after contemporary Russian conductors.

Andrey Alexandrovich had been head of Chamber choir of Smolny Cathedral and collaborated with "Congress Orchestra" of St. Petersburg and Choir of the French radio as guest conductor.

Andrey Petrenko's repertory encompasses "St John Passion" by Bach, Requiems by Mozart and Berlioz, "Messiah" oratory by Handel, and numerous symphony programs. Opera works include "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart, "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini, "War and Peace" by Prokofiev, "Sadko" by Rimsky-Korsakov. Under his leadership opera by Vladimir Martynov "New Life" ("Novaya Zhizn'") was premiered at the Moscow International House of Music as part of the 4th Moscow Easter Festival.
