Russian Timbre and Mr. Andrianov at MIHM

Russian Timbre and Mr. Andrianov at MIHM

On 10 December MRP presented a recital titled From Tchaikovsky to Piazzolla at the Chamber Hall of MIHM. For the first time MRP’s ensemble RussianTimbre and artistic leader of VIVACELLO festival, mastermind behind The Star Generation project, cellist Boris Andrianov performed together.

Russian Timbre’s artistic leader Vyacheslav Kuzminsky had prepared original arrangements of popular pieces for the event: Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, extract from Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion, Winter from Vivaldi’s The Seasons, Piazzolla’s Tango etc, with each instrument unfolding its distinct sounding in the ensemble play.

Vyacheslav Kuzminsky commented: “We’re always very meticulous when it comes to the repertoire; we don’t have a single piece that might be referred to as “passing”, in musicians’ vocabulary. We play the pieces that have some distinction, whether it’s rhythm, melody, or some emotional element. Music ought to touch. In my arrangements I’m trying to broaden the palette of the score, to bring out the colors that might be unusual for this or that composer. As we play music of all kinds, each recital has something to offer to every listener”.
