MRP participated in charity recital for building Shalyapin Centre

Moscow Region Philharmonic took part in charity recital for building Shalyapin Youth Educational Cente in Sergiyev-Posad district. The event was held on 8 February at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory. A phrase coined by Shalyapin, "Chant is true ascent", was the name and symbol of the musical event.

The recital featured vocal pieces from the repertoire of the celebrated singer (romances by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff). The Song of the Volga Boatmen sung by Shalyapin numerous times was arranged for an unusual cast: children's group of "Kupina" ensemble of guslars, leader of the Centre for Ethnic Music development Andrey Ivanov (double bass) and award winner of Russian national competitions Olesya Rostkova (Russian Sophia belfry invented by Mikhail Ivanov). The program also included instrumental music – works by Vivaldi, Chopin, and Scriabin.

The recital culminated in mysterium Prince Vladimir performed by MRP's State Choir, Olesya Rostova (Sophia belfry), Andrey Ivanov (double bass), award winners of international competitions Vladimir Pinyalov (trumpet), Alexandra Syomkina (trumpet), Anastasiya Burmistrova (tympany), Ensemble of Byzantine Chant "Psalt", ensemble of Dmitry Pokrovsky, Ensemble of Guslars Kupina, Sudakov State Moscow Capella. Soloists: Yana Ivanilova (soprano), Pavel Baransky (baritone). Andrey Mikita, the author of the work, was conducting.

The event also featured: Oleg Kulko (tenor), Margarita Petrosyan (piano), Alexander Naumenko (bass), Andrey Korobeinikov (piano), Yuri Bogdanov (piano), Kirill Rodin (cello), Maria Zaytseva (cello), Anastasiya Ushakova (cello), Hyuk Lee (piano), and Gnessin Orchestra of Guslars.
