“Russian Timbre” opens World Accordion Championship in Rostov-on-Don

On 14 September “Russian Timbre” was featured in the opening ceremony of 69th World Accordion Championship. The event took place at Rostov State Music Theatre.  

President of International Accordionists Confederation Raymond Bodel and Head of Rostov-on-Don Administration Sergey Gorban made speeches to greet the forum’s participants and visitors.

World Accordion Championship brings together the best musicians from across the globe. This year it is held in Russia for the first time, attracting contestants from 17 countries.

The opening ceremony also featured People’s Artist of Russia, professor of Gnessin Music Academy, founder of Rostov School of Bayan Players, member of MRP’s Artistic Council, member of World Championship award panel Vyacheslav Semyonov and his students, among them Yuri Shishkin, an internationally acclaimed bayan player and Vice President of International Accordionists Confederation.

MRP’s soloist Aidar Gainullin won the championship in 2001.
